Travel Tips for Dahab
Illness
If you are feeling sick please let us know and we will arrange for a doctor to come and see you (24 hrs). They are not too expensive and will give you a receipt to claim on your insurance. There is as well a recompression chamber in Dahab.
Water
Dehydration is common. It is exacerbated by caffeine and alcohol. Diving also plays a part due to the dry air in your tank. It is wise to drink as much water as you can comfortably manage! The recommended daily water intake is 2-3 large bottles and 4-6 bottles for divers. Please do not drink the tap water!
Visa
Upon arrival at Sharm el Sheikh airport or Taba airport there are two Visa options:
Option 1: If you are just planning to stay only in South Sinai (Dahab, Sharm el Sheikh, Nuweiba, Taba & St Catherine) for 2 weeks or less and you are not intending to dive at Ras Mohammed, Tiran or at the Thistlegorm, you can get the free of charge “14 days South Sinai only” stamp from the passport control.
Option 2: If you want to travel around Egypt, stay for more than 2 weeks, or dive at Ras Mohammed, Tiran or the Thistlegorm, you need to buy the 1 month whole Egyptian Visa (available at the airport) for 25U$ per person.
please note your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months (departure date) to be allowed to enter Egypt.
Transfers
A return airport transfer in your own private air-conditioned Taxi from Sharm el Sheikh or Taba airport, Sharm el Sheik or Nuweiba harbour can be arranged by us. For prices please contact us by email. To organise your transfer, we need to know your flight number / ferry details and arrival time.
